Director of Strategic Innovation for Nonprofit Finance Fund
LaBarbera spoke to the Children and Families Commission of Orange County about the changes in philanthropy and the emergence of outcomes-base funding.
Non-profit organizations nationwide have identified achieving long-term financial sustainability as their top challenge. To meet that challenge would require, in part, an increase in funding. But in this post-recession era, philanthropists and funding organizations are requiring non-profits to connect their activities to outcomes.
LaBarbera addressed ways in which building a strong financial management culture, investing in human resources to collect and assess impact, collaborating with others and creating capitalization plans can help non-profits adapt to the changing philanthropic culture.
